There is so much hatred bubbling away under the surface in this society, just waiting for an opportunity to be expressed.

I didn’t realise how involved the British were in parts of this - taking part in fighting around Tsaritsyn (Stalingrad) with fighter planes and tanks, deploying the Royal Navy to the Caspian Sea etc. I can see why Stalin was so bitter about it later.
